'Karbi anglong Bandh affects Jessami'

Chairman of Jessami village, Ayete has demanded the state government to make provision for regular supply of BPL and APL rice to its villagers, while at the same time urging the government establish a FCS Godown in the village.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Ayete alleged that Jessami villagers do not get government supply of rice regularly, thereby adding woes to the poor residents of the village.
Following the 1000 hour bandh in Karbianglong, rice which was earlier available at Rs.25 per kg (Superfine) is now sold at Rs.30 - Rs 35, he added.
Consequent to the Karbianglong bandh, Dal (Muksuri) which costed Rs.70-75 a kg is sold at Rs.90 per kg and price of potato has risen to Rs.40 per kg from Rs.20-25 a kg.
The village chairman further asserted that the work of construction of sanitary latrines by the PHE department under Bharat Nirman program has not reached Jessami village.
However, with the coming of Swachh Bharat Mission, awareness campaigns have been held in the village.
The village chief urged the state government to take up developmental works in Jessami village, besides kaing the BPL/APL rice available to the villagers.
