Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has said the matter concerning withdrawal of the ongoing public movement will be finalized after a meeting with the Government.
On Monday, JCILPS convenor in-charge Khomdram Ratan told reporters at Keishampat that the first stage of success had been attained after the State Assembly passed the three Bills meant to protect the indigenous people.
He said, "This stage has been achieved by the people's persistent efforts, but we should not celebrate now as the Bills still needed the consent of the Governor" .
Ratan informed that the Joint Committee will hold talks with the Government on the agreement signed between the two sides.
The Joint Committee will demand unconditional release of all student protesters besides providing relief to those who got injured during the ILPS stir, he said.
Ratan said over 347 protesters were hurt in the agitation launched to demand implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) and some of them are likely to suffer lifelong disability.
Some of the agitators are also currently undergoing medical treatment at different hospitals in outside States, the JCILPS leader said.
He said the Government must be more responsible for helping the injured persons, adding many are still staging hunger strike and several young protesters are now at different juvenile homes.
The Joint Committee convenor in-charge urged all communities not to impose any strike against the three Bills which will be benefited by all.
He said 16-year-old Sapam Robinhood died during the public movement and his lifeless body is still lying unclaimed in JNIMS mortuary.
