JNIMS Director vows to fund displaced girl become doctor

In a humanitarian gesture amid the crisis situation, JNIMS director Dr L Deven has announced that he would bear all the expenses of one Khumanthem Anjalika, who has cleared the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) - 2023, in pursuing medical course.
Anjalika hails from Moreh Turel Wangma but is presently taking shelter in the relief camp opened at Ideal Girl's College, Akampat, along with her parents after their house was torched by Kuki miscreants on May 3.Dr L Deben made the announcement after visiting the student and her parents at the relief camp on Monday.
Speaking to reporters, the JNIMS director informed that he learnt about both suffering and resilience of Anjalika through the social media.
Undergoing medical profession after clearing NEET examination is not an easy job.
Considering the problems being faced by Anjalika and her family and the challenges in becoming a medical professional, he decided to extend all possible assistance to enable her pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
Dr Deven further informed that he would bear all expenses including admission, books, hostel fees, study materials, etc., until she takes up internship and is able to stand on her own.
Anjalika and her family members also expressed gratitude to Professor L Deben for his help.
She cleared the NEET - 2023 ranked 91st.Her mother Khumanthem Kamala had a small shop in Moreh through which she fed her family of three children (2 girls, 1 boy) including Anjalika who is the eldest.
However during the communal violence her house including the shop was burnt down by Kuki miscreants and now she has no means to run her family.
Kamala informed that her dream was to make her daughter become a doctor and she had done her best in this regard.
However, after her house and shop were burnt down by Kuki miscreants she was helpless and was wondering how her daughter's dream of becoming a doctor could materialise.
It is in such a crucial juncture that Dr Deben came and offered to bear all the expenses for Anjalika to continue medical courses, for which she and her family is indebted for life.
Meanwhile, the JNIMS director appealed to the state government to relax the internet ban and facilitate medical students attend online counselling for pursuing MBBS courses scheduled on August 2 and 3, 2023 .
