GOC, IGAR (S) call on Najma

GOC of 3 Corps Lieutenant General Gopal R who arrived on a two day visit from 28 February to March 1 called on Governor Najma Heptulla along with IGAR (S) and discussed the law and order situation in the State and assured that the Army and the Assam Rifles are committed towards bringing lasting peace to the region.
During the meeting the Governor said that the law and order has vastly improved in Manipur, which can easily be seen by the time that shops close in the evening.
She also spoke about the importance of bringing cinema halls to the State.
The GOC reflected that with the railway line coming up, more development is likely to follow in the State.
General Gopal, while reflecting on the immense talent of Manipur in the field of sports requested the Governor to showcase the game of Polo to.
the entire world.
While commending the women Polo players who took part in the Sangai Festival, the Governor said that there are plans to make a world class Football Academy in Manipur and also commended the eight players from Manipur who formed part of FIFA U-17 Football World Cup.
The IG Assam Rifles, while conveying the unstinted support of his forces in ensuring the well being of the State, emphasized that Assam Rifles is focused on empowering the children, women and youth of the State to attain financial sustainability and a secure future.
The Assam Rifles is also making a concerted effort towards harnessing the immense talent available in the State in an array of different sporting activities and in the field of art and literature.
The GOC also greeted the people of the State on the occasion of Yaoshang.
