Jiribam (Imphal East), July 30 2015:
After the Jiribam Municipality Council (JMC) has failed to control the waste pollution caused by improper waste disposal along the meat stalls in the municipality area, Leirembi Leikai Nupi Marup, Jiribam and local civil society organisations have resolved to take up stringent steps if the demand to control the pollution is not met with at the earliest.
During a meeting held at the residence of Lebio Rongmei, elected member, Kalinagar Ward No 2, advisor of Leirembi Leikai Nupi Marup, Hamom Dhoni Meetei stated that due to the negligence of the meat stall owners while disposing the wastes, the adjoining road has become too dirty for commuters.
Though several requests were made to the EO and chairperson of JMC regarding the matter, no positive step has been initiated till now.
Dhoni Meetei added that in case the JMC fails to take up appropriate steps within 15 days, CSOs of Jiribam along with Leirembi Leikai Nupi Marup will launch a rigorous agitation.
The meeting was also attended by the nominee members of Kalinagar Ward No 1 and 2 .
