Manipur will disintegrate if BJP comes to power: Chief Minister

If a "communal party" like the BJP comes to power and rule Manipur, the State will end in complete disintegration, alleged Chief Minister O Ibobi while delivering a speech at a one-day political convention held at Tarung Community Ground, Imphal.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the convention organised by Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee, Ibobi recalled that under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the BJP launched the "India Shining" campaign but the campaign failed miserably and could not rescue the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government led by the BJP at the Centre.
People voted against the regime, pointed out Ibobi.
Ibobi also recalled that it was during the NDA regime, Manipur was plunged into total turmoil as the Government of India and NSCN (IM) ceasefire coverage area was extended to Manipur.
He alleged that even now, the Centre ruled by the BJP is trying to cause problems for the State due to the Naga Peace Accord signed recently.
Accusing the BJP of practicing partisan and communal politics, the Chief Minister alleged that Churches had been set on fire by communal forces in some States of India.
Referring to the beef politics, the chief minister also said that even the Kerala House in Delhi was not spared when it was raided to find out if 'beef curry' was on its canteen's menu.
Ibobi pointed out that many intellectuals, literary figures and eminent citizens have been continuously expressed their disapproval of the policies of the Narendra Modi led Government at the Centre.
With such records, the Chief Minister exuded confidence that the people of Manipur will not vote for a party that will bring disaster to the land.
He also said that centrally sponsored schemes which was 90 per cent central grant during the UPA Government has come down to 50 per cent and special schemes have been scrapped.
It may be mentioned that Congress has fielded Jotin Waikhom for the bye-elections to be held for 9 Thangmeiband A/C on November 21 .
'Cong needs to be ousted if Manipur wants peace' .
The Congress has been creating lots of problem for Manipur for a long time and if the people want a peaceful and prosperous State, the Congress has to be completely rooted out of Manipur, said Former President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Meinam Bhorot on Thursday.
Bhorot was speaking at a function organised by BJP Thangmeiband Mandal in connection with a reception of Khumukcham Joykishan Singh, the BJP candidate for the Thangmeiband A/C in the coming bye-election scheduled for November 21.Speaking on the occasion, the former BJP Manipur unit president said that since the merger of Manipur with India, the Congress had been creating all sorts of problems that have put the State in a dire situation.
He alleged that it was the wrong polices of the Congress that has put Manipur in an awkward position that gave rise to armed insurgency.
He said the party is responsible for bringing in the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) which has caused violation of human rights leading to torture of common people.
By hiding all its atrocious acts, the Congress has also been trying to tarnish the name of BJP in the State, alleged Bhorot.
Those who attended the function also include Manipur BJP unit President Th Chaoba.
