Traffic resumes on Imphal-Moreh road

As the bandh imposed by the JAC Imphal-Moreh Road Transport Organisation was called off after the assurance of tight security escort by the state government, normal service of Imphal-Moreh transport service resumed from today amid tight security measures.
Large police force of Chandel and Thoubal district police commandos and 8 MR led by Chandel SP Radhashyam and Additional SP Thoubal (Operation) H Jogeshchandra rushed at Thamnpokpi area where most of the blockade related incidents have occurred in the few past days.
Large numbers of police personnel were deployed as ROP from 7 in the morning.
A total of 98 vehicles including one oil tanker, two Trucks, five buses, 12 Tata DIs, 20 Tata Sumo, 54 Maruti Van, four Maruti Cars and one Bolero were allowed entry at Heikakpokpi area by Pallel Police and SDPO Kakching at 8 am and were escorted to Moreh by Thoubal district Police Commandos and Tengnoupal Police team from 10 am.
The police team also demolished a temporary shed at Thamnapokpi area used by blockade supporters.
SP Chandel told reporters that the security measures being taken up in view of the frequent attacks on goods vehicles by UNC blockade supporters will continue till the UNC lift its stir.
The vehicles which entered Moreh today will head for Imphal from 10 am tomorrow morning.
