Kakching, January 29 2015 : Tengnoupal Village Authority has called an indefinite bandh along Imphal-Moreh section of National Highway 102 in protest against 24 Assam Rifles for prohibiting free movement of Tengnoupal villagers and its surrounding people with effect for Thursday midnight.

Informing this to media-persons, Lunminthang Haokip, Secretary of Tengnoupal Village Authority said that the decision to call the bandh was taken by the villagers after the Assam Rifles personnel prohibited villagers who were coming home from Pallel and Imphal to proceed further at Sita Lamkhai near Tengnoupal along the National Highway.

Even the Village Authority members who went to request them for allowing the villagers to proceed were abused by the Assam Rifles Personnel, said Haokip.

Condemning the action of the Assam Rifles, the village Secretary said that all right thinking individuals and organizations should condemn such action of depriving the rights of the villagers to move freely.
