Declare UNC as unlawful organisation, says former MPP prez

Imphal, December 28 2016: UNC which has defied the orders of the Supreme Court and High Court should be declared as an unlawful organisation by the Centre, stated former president of Manipur People's Party Laitonjam Borajao.

Briefing mediapersons at Manipur Press Club, Laitonjam Borajao said it is a well-known fact that UNC has been imposing the indefinite economic blockade under the instigation of NSCN-IM.

The Nagas in Manipur, who work under the command of NSCN-IM and UNC, should not attempt to divide the State.

The economic blockade should be lifted immediately, he added.

Laitonjam Borajao also questioned if the State's boundaries are guarded by NSCN-IM or the State Government and why the Centre has failed to take up any action against NSCN-IM though people of Manipur have been reeling under the severe impacts of the indefinite economic blockade .

UNC has defied the orders of the Supreme Court and High Court.

As such, the organisation is an illegal body.

Instead of declaring UNC as an unlawful organisation, the Centre is sending Central paramilitary forces.

This cannot be accepted.

The Centre takes the issues of Jammu and Kashmir seriously while the issues prevailing in Manipur have been ignored completely, he added.
