Special Judge (POCSO), Senapati rejects anticipatory bail pleas of 'child rapist'

The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), Senapati today rejected the anticipatory bail pleaded by one Gangbi Gangmei (26 ), who is accused of sexually assaulting a minor and cancelled the interim order passed if any by this Court.
The case filed under FIR No.21(10) 2020 WPS-BPR under 6 POCSO Act & 506 of the Indian Penal Court was held with the State of Manipur versus Gangbi Gangmei, aged about 24 years, S/o Gangmei Adam of Chini Ingkhon Village, Nungsai Chiru, PO & PS Bishnupur, Senapati district, with L Danny, SPL PP for the State and P Jaswanta Singh, Advocate as the petitioner in the presence of Samom Ibjen, Sessions Judge, Senapati.
According to sources from the family members, the accused identified as one, Gangbi Gangmei, (26 ), S/o Adam Gangmei of Chini Ingkhon village, PO/PS, Bishnupur under Kangpokpi district who reportedly is a Police constable presently posted at Tengnoupal District Police, Reserve Line allegedly committed heinous sexual assault on the minor from last January this year till September, threatening her not to disclose the matter to anyone.
The matter came to light when the victim shared the incident with her friend that later came to the family members.
Accordingly, an FIR was filed at Bishnupur Women Police Station on October 16 last under Section 6 POCSO Act and 506 IPC.
However, the police had not arrested the accused as he had been issued with an Interim bail, denying the police to arrest the accused.
Relatives and family members of the victim came and thronged at the gate of the District & Sessions Court, Senapati when the hearing of the case was held at the Court today.
Banners and placards written as "Mass protest against child rapist, Gangbi Gangmei, Reject interim bail to the accused, Arrest Gangbi Gangmei immediately, Death penalty to rapist Police constable, We demand immediate arrest of the child rapist and death penalty to Gangbi Gangmei, Cancel bail for rapist, No compromise on child rape, Justice for rape survivor and Punish the child rapist" were held by protestors outside the gate of the Court.
Speaking to media persons, Merajao Inkah, president of the JAC formed in support of the victim demanded befitting punishment against the accused who sexually assaulted a minor of 11 years old.
Family members of the victim were strongly against the interim bail given to the accused in the past and demanded justice be delivered.
The protesters shouted they want Justice in unison.
