Patsoi PDS agent clarifies

Imphal, June 28 2016: The PDA agents of Patsoi AC today discussed the matter of forming a JAC by 17 PDS agents and expressing their grievances to the media. After the meeting, PDS agent of Polling Station No 19/36 Sayang Road Konthoujam Leikai, Thounaojam Pramod said that the AC has 91 PDS agents and there is no restriction in resigning or joining as a PDS agent. Of the 17 agents who have been reportedly resigned re- cently, one agent has no knowledge about his resignation, he said. Pramod further clarified that it was wrong to propagate that Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 had been collected from all the agents as trade license and renewal fees. There are many poor agents who could not pay this fee, he added. Regarding the security deposit of Rs 5000, Pramod said that this amount would be refunded after the agent concerned is resigned. Regarding distribution of ration cards for National Food Security Act, Pramod said that efforts are being made to rectify some errors in consultation with the authority con- cerned. Saying that distribution of rice would commence soon after this rectification is completed, he clarified that there is no case of interference from the local MLA in the distribution of PDS items in the past four years. Maintaining that the MLA, PDS agents and people have been going hand in hand, Pramod said that the allegation levelled by 17 PDS agents was a politically motivated move. Taking part at the press conference, Ng Chinglen said that he had never resigned as a PDS agent.
