Imphal, September 27 2011:
UCM has warned the state government to come up with specific plans and solve the problems faced by the general public owing to the economic blockade before any public uprising takes place in the state.
Speaking at the floral tribute ceremony which was organized by (UCM as a mark of respect to the June 18 Martyrs, who laid down their lives in the people's uprising against GoI-NSCN(IM) agreement "without territorial limit" at the memorial site in Kekrupat today, UCM, President Yumnamcha Dilipkumar said that the economic blockade of the SHDDC and the counter economic blockade of the UNC has left the people of the state in horrifying stage.
If the government sits idle and observes the sufferings of the people, a public uprising is inevitable.
He also expressed deep sorrow over the present condition of Kekrupat.
The memorial site of the June 18 Martyrs has become a perfect 'hanging out' place for drunkards.
Some of the Home guards who were placed on duty at Kekrupat have been withdrawn.
If the government cannot manage the memorial site then it is better to hand it over to UCM, for the better.
