Training on human trafficking held for Tamenglong police

Tamenglong, July 27 2011:
A three day training on human trafficking for Tamenglong District police concluded here today at the office complex of SP, Tamenglong with Kinderson Pamei, Chairperson Child Welfare, Tamenglong and Executive Director of Indigenous Women and Children Foundation Tamenglong as felicitators.
Police personnel from all areas of Tamenglong attended training organised by SP, Tamenglong.
Tamenglong police would now be checking movement of all vehicles to prevent child transport and trafficking.

SP Tamenglong directed all OCs of the sub-Division of this district to issue restriction notices on sending children below 12 years outside the state as per the SC directive.
Till date, Tamenglong district had no special Juvenile Police Unit in the police department.
Children who went against the law also suppose to care are to be given protection by Juvenile Justice Board, however this has taken place.
Kinderson Pamei explained child's rights and how human trafficking is taking place in the district.
He also explained the important role of the police to prevent human trafficking.
He said, 271 children have been rescued from Manipur and as many as 84 were from Tousem Sub-Division.
In the last two years Tamenglong district had the highest rate of human trafficking in the state.
He also said that there are still more than a hundred children from Manipur in Singapore and Chennai.
The Child Welfare Committee Tamenglong together with the Social Welfare department recued children from Malaysia, Singapore and Chennai.
He said the Zaojian Children Home under IWCF is looking after some victims girls.
