Shutdown cripples normal life

Imphal, January 27 2023:
The 16 hours general strike/shutdown imposed by the different underground outfits in the State crippled normal life in the State capital yesterday as all the major business establishments remained closed during the shutdown.
All the major markets in the State capital including Ima markets, temporary market, Paona Keithel and Thangal Keithel remained closed during the shutdown.
Petrol pumps, educational institutions, both Government and private and other establishments remained shut.
Most of the private vehicles remained off the roads during the 16 hours shutdown while all types of public transporters suspended their normal business.
Police, in large numbers, were deployed at important places/points of the State capital so as to prevent any kind of unwanted incident during the shutdown.
