'It's time for Africa to wake up': Licypriya leads over 50,000 Angola children, youth on climate change

7-year-old child climate activist from Manipur Licypriya Kangujam has created history in Africa by gathering over 50,000 children and youths in Angola for action on climate change.
Her recent posts of the climate change campaign on social media such as Facebook and Twitter liked by over 8,000 people have been shared more than 1,000 times and still counting.
Many global celebrities including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg shared Licypriya's tweet in which she is seen cleaning beach of plastics and beer cans left by people who were gathered for a party there the previous night.
She wrote in her Facebook post, "I am really very sad today.
Even my senior climate Activist friends, people of Angola & others enjoyed a big party last night with music here and they left hundreds of plastics bottles, beer cans, straws, plastic plates, etc.
on this sea beach roadsides.
I found today while walking in the early morning".
A 21-year-old Angolan youth, Evaristo Quivuio said, "Early morning, few local leaders saw Licypriya cleaning up the sea beach roadside" .
She picked up huge numbers of plastics bottles, beers cans, food plastics used plates etc which were left after a big party last night by over thousands of people.
Many Angolan people felt embarrassed and asked her what helps she needed.
She replied to help her in her climate campaign in Angola.
Video of her cleaning the beach side road went viral in Angola.
So, we are gathering here in numbers to support her, Evaristo Quivuio said.
Children and youth came from different places with drums and music to 'wake up' the people to come out in streets in front of the Hotel Diamant�, Luanda where Licypriya is staying in her maiden visit.
7 Port Roads were been blocked completely for more than 6 hours due to the protest in the capital city of Angola.
People gathering there said they never saw such a huge number of people gathering for environment.
"A 7-year-old Indian school girl has created history today by waking up the Angolans," said a protester.
Speaking to Angola National television TPA, Licypriya said, "Angola should wake up now.
Africa should wake up now.
They are the biggest victim of this global climate change.
But they are still sleeping".
"When I first campaign here on Friday, only few people came out to do climate strike in Luanda City.
But today, I am very happy as over 50,000 school students from various schools and organizations turn out voluntarily after hearing the news of my protest Friday to support my campaign" .
"We are being choked to death by the amount of plastic that we throw away.
It's killing our oceans and lakes.
It's entering into our bodies in the fish we eat," she said.
