Case of loot on NH-37 to be probed: Gaikhangam

Imphal, September 26 2015 :
More security measures will be taken up along all National Highways connecting Manipur, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said on Saturday.
Speaking to the media persons on the sidelines of a function, Gaikhangam also assured that the Government will investigate the incident wherein several trucks were looted along National Highway 37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) on September 24 .
The looting on the highway was blamed on the NSCN (IM).
Media reports had said suspected NSCN (IM) cadres were behind the looting of some 20 trucks along the Imphal-Jiribam road.
Gaikhangam who is also the Home Minister condemned the incident stating that transporters need adequate security escort on highways.

He also pointed out that there are several CRPF camps on the Imphal-Jiribam road stretch and assured that the Government will ascertain the facts about the looting incident.
The Deputy Chief Minister was attending a felicitation cum prize distribution function at the Takyel Kolom Leikai community hall.
Several prominent sportspersons and persons working in the field of art and culture were honoured at the event.
Gaikhangam was the Chief Guest and Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai was the also president during the function organised by Social Development Organisation (SODO) .
KM Blooming School founder Kh Menjor, Yurembam Zila Parishad member Chanam Ongbi Bijenti and MEELAL vice president M Naokhomba graced the event as guests of honour.
Traditional dances were also performed as part of the function.
