Imphal, August 26 2022: T Phulchand, president, Consumers' Club Manipur has stated that shopkeepers are also consumers in a sense and as such, must adhere to the prescribed rules and regulation while selling their wares.

He made this statement during the 32nd foundation day observance ceremony held at GM Hall yesterdat.

Addressing the gathering, T Phulchand stated that shopkeepers can be punished under Consumer Protection Act if break any laws while selling their products.

A consumer can put forward their grievances to the District Commission, State Commission and National Commission.

Following this, the erring party may be instructed to pay a compensation or be punished, he shared.

He further stated that the Consumers' Club Manipur was formed in 1991 with the goal of spreading awareness about consumer rights among the public.
