Two remanded to 8 days police custody

Chief judicial Magistrate Imphal West yesterday remanded two persons to 8 days police custody for alleged attempted murder of a woman 8 years ago.
The accused persons identified as Arambam Manju (33) of Sagolband Kangabam Leikai and Laitongjam Premjit @ Gopal (34) of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai Achouba were arrested on August 23 from their respective house 8 years after the incident in connection with the written complaint lodged by the husband of the victim woman on May 29, 2012.During the hearing, Investigating Officer of the case through Assistant Public Prosecutor submitted that husband of the victim in his complaint stated that on May 29, 2012 at around 5.30 pm, while his wife was alone with his baby daughter at home, three unknown persons who came in one red Honda Activa Moped attempted to give injection forcefully by tying both his wife's hands and mouth with cellotape.
The husband was playing housie nearby when they heard loud noises and cry.
They hurriedly came outside the road and found his wife shouting and crying to three unknown persons.
The husband further mentioned that his wife stated that she was silenced at gunpoint while the three unknown persons tied her hands and threatened her not to shout.
The three then gave her some injection forcefully but she managed to remove the tap and started shouting when the three unknown persons drove away at full speed.
He then took his wife to RIMS Casualty for medical examination and the samples were also sent to Babina clinic for tests and hence a case was registered for investigation.
During the course of investigation, the complainant was examined and the police also visited the spot.
As no incriminating article including the syringe could be recovered from the place of occurrence, the case turned cold and a final report was submitted on March 3, 2013 .
However, the case was revived with an order of CJM Imphal West dated August 21 on the ground that there has been a new light which could lead to identifying the unknown culprits of the case.
On perusal of the records of the case including FIR, statement of the complainant and the victim woman, Section 354/307/130-B IPC and 25 (1-B) Arms Act were added for intent to outrage her modesty, attempting murder by giving unknown drugs in a syringe at gun point.
During further course of investigation, the accused Arambam Manju was arrested from his house on August 23 evening and on preliminary interrogation he allegedly admitted that he knows some important facts of the case and on his disclosure co-accused Laitongjam Premjit was also arrested from his house on same day in the evening, submitted the IO and prayed for 10 days police custody remand for further investigation.
The Court after hearing the submission of the IO through APP, remanded the accused persons to 8 days police custody till August 31 .
