Expressing serious concern about the absence of top officials, Speaker of the House I Hemochandra ruled that the House will be adjourned in future if top officials of various departments of the state government failed to attend the assembly session.
Speaker Hemochandra gave the ruling after seeing the Officers' gallery deserted on the second day of the four day sitting.
He said that the top officials should attend the assembly sitting since it is a very important session meant for the development and various issues of the state.
If the Chief Secretary and other top officials are unable to attend the sittings, they should send their Commissioners and officers of equivalent post.
Sending Under Secretaries will not be entertain in the House.
Police Department should also send officers not less than the rank of Additional DGPs.
Quoting an excerpt of Senior Opposition Leader O Joy who compared the Speaker with a CRPF commandant, published in a local daily, Hemochandra termed the speech of the senior member as unfortunate and contemptuous and appealed to the member not to repeat such a blunder in the future.
He said that he was only doing his duty as a Speaker of the House.
He also appealed to the media persons to be cautious in publishing such speeches in future.
