MCM to launch agitations on Mantripukhri land acquisition

Muslim Council, Manipur (MCM) has decided to launch intense agitations if the State Government does not withdraw its decision on land acquisition at Mantripukhri area for construction of Regional Office of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Addressing media persons at the Grand Holy Mosque at Golapati here today, President of MCM Haji Arafat Ali said that the proposed site for RBI office at Mantripukhri is inhabited by more than 1000 people belonging to different communities.
The decision of the Government to acquire land at Mantripukhri is against the interest of indigenous people, he noted.
He further said that the community leaders and public have resolved to launch intense agitations against the anti-people decision of the State Government.
MCM is also against the eviction of Kabo Leikai and Cabinet's decision to take over Sana Konung for developing it into a historical monument, Haji Arafat added.
The President of MCM further decried the Government for causing unrest at Mantripukhri area during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, and demanded unconditional release of those people who were arrested by police during the agitation.
MCM also decried the Sora incident in which one minor boy was killed and two others seriously injured in alleged police firing, and demanded a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
