Imphal, June 25 2019:
The claim made by M/S NE Enterprises Proprietor responding to an allegation of Khurai AC MLA regarding the non-distribution of rice quota under NFSA, stating that the MLA's allegation was false and baseless, is rather unfortunate.
Nominee of Khurai Kendra Y Thoithoi, while making the above statement during a press meet held at Khurai Sajor Leikai, claimed that what the MLA had said about not receiving quota, is true and termed the claims of M/S NE Enterprises proprietor as rather unfortunate.
On the other hand, PA of Khurai AC MLA S Somorendro narrated that when the district supply officer, CAF & PD Imphal East was enquired in January this year about the sanctioning of PDS items for Khurai Kendra, it was found that items for 21 months of the Kendra had been already withdrawn.

It was also found that the PDS items were distributed for 14 months only when enquired further, he added.
Somorendro continued that, a police complaint was lodged on March 2 as the nominee and contractor concerned did not give reasons for the pending seven months.
After filing a complaint that PDS items for seven months are missing despite being withdrawn from the godown, the nominee released the quota for one month, he claimed.
Following this hassle, the MLA called a press meet urging the State Govt to release the pending quota for seven months and the news was carried in the local dailies as well.
He continued to narrate that when the matter got serious, the proprietor of M/S NE Enterprise, which is handling the distribution, made the clarification on June 23 stating that the MLA's allegation was wrong and baseless.
On the other hand, the proprietor or contractor has also claimed that he has PDS items for five months with him which proves that the MLA's allegation is true and that the people have not received the PDS items yet, he claimed.
