Chandel bandh called

Kakching, June 25 2013: Kuki & Naga Village Chiefs & Chairmen (Khullakpa) of Tengnoupal & Machi Block of Chandel District have jointly called an indefinite Chandel district bandh with effect from midnight of June 26.The decision to impose the indefinite bandh was taken at a meeting held today at Molnoi Village Chief's residence following non-release of MGNREGS Funds (wages & material components) by the Programme Officer (MG-NREGS) of Tengnoupal and Machi Block in alleged collusion with the members of Autonomous District Council.

In the meeting, the village chiefs and chairmen also strongly condemned the 'fake press statement' published in local dailies on June 23 in the name of Tengnoupal Block Kuki Chiefs Assn by some unscrupulous persons.

Furthermore, the meeting unanimously resolved to indentify and punish the persons responsible for issuing the fake press statement in the name of Kuki Chiefs Assn.

Tengnoupal Block without the knowlegde of the concern authority at the earliest.

It may be worth mentioning here that the Kuki & Naga Village Chiefs & Chairmen have strongly opposed implementation of 25% of MG-NREGS fund by the ADC Members.
