2nd NE Theatre Festivalto begin from June 3

Ningthoujam Tombi(NT) Theatre is going to organise the 2nd N.E Theatre festival,2012 from June 3 to June 9 at its play house, Hongnemshang situated at Changangei.
In all seven plays from various states of the region including four plays from Manipur, two from Assam and one from Tripura will be taking part in the week-long festival.
A Far Cry, a play directed by Ningthouja Deepak based on the scripts written by Budha Chingtham will inaugurate the festival.
Others plays to be featured in the festival are Sacrifice based on Bisharjan written by Rabindranath Tagore and directed by Bidyutjit Chakraborty; Khudop written by Ram Brahman with Nanda Kumar Moirngthem as scriptwriter, Bisarjan written by Kh.Dhanachandra and directed by Lamabam Gojen, Enai Lok Kotu Dekha Nai written by Moliere and directed by Jyoti Narayan Nath, Kshudita Passan directed by Wareppa Naba and based on MK Binodini's dramatisation of the original play written by Rabindranath Tagore and Saba Kota Manuah, a stage adaptation of the original novel Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi by Anup Hajzarika to be directed by Pakija Begum.
Addressing a press conference in this connection, Festival Managing Director Ningthouja Deepak appealed to all the people to help the organisers in conducting the festival smoothly as it is going to be one of the major theatre platforms for the North Eastern states.
He expressed confidence that organising such festivals would help in promoting peace and unity among the people of the region.
The organisers have also appealed to the general public not to call bandhs or blockades during the course of the festival.
The festival is being supported by North East Zonal Council, Dimapur, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Indian Council of Cultural Organisation.
