Education Minister visits centralised evaluation centres

Education Minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam today visited the centralised evaluation centres for COHSEM and BOSEM for the Higher Secondary Examinations, 2020 and High School Leaving Examinations, 2020 at Ramlal Paul Higher Secondary School, TG Higher Secondary School, CC Higher Secondary School and DM College of Science.
The Minister expressed that the evaluation of the answer papers has already begun as planned and the results will be declared timely to facilitate the academic plans of the students.
He stated that the evaluations will be completed by the first week of May.
Arrangements are being made for the remaining subjects and practical examinations for all practical involving subjects of the Higher Secondary Examinations, he said and appealed to the students and the parents not to worry.
While inspecting the centralised evaluation centres, the Minister also interacted with the teachers.
On the need for the curfew passes for the teachers engaged in the evaluation of answer papers, Dr Thokchom Radheshyam said that Identity Cards have already been issued to the teachers engaged for the evaluation.
He appealed to the Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police and officials concerned to extend all possible assistance to the teachers during the curfew period.
Further, he said that letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police and officials concerned will be dispatched for seeking support and co-operation.
Highlighting their grievances, the teachers also informed the Minister regarding the scarcity of fuel for the vehicle because of the lockdown, in which the Minister assured that fuel for vehicles will be arranged at the evaluation centres for the teachers and officials engaged in the evaluation with discussion with the Chairman and officials concerned of the Education Department.
The Minister also lauded the efforts of the officials and the health workers in the evaluation centres for maintaining strict guidelines of social distancing, monitoring body temperatures and taking necessary measures to prevent COVID-19 transmission.
The Minister appealed the teachers and officials to wear a mask or any cloth that would cover their mouth and nose.
The visit was accompanied by the officials of the COHSEM and BOSEM.
