Khongjom Day: DESAM leads mega blood donation camp

Imphal, April 24 2019: Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), State Blood Cell, NHM, Manipur and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) jointly organised 70th mega blood donation camp at RIMS Blood Bank, Lamphel.

The blood donation camp was organised under the banner "Maheiroi amadi Leibak Meeyamgidamak Kathoklaba Ee".

Speaking on the sideline of the event, DESAM assistant secretary general Leishangthem Lamyanba said that DESAM since its inception has been organising the mega blood donation camp.

69th Mega Blood Donation Camp was held yesterday at Shija Hospital commemorating the fallen heroes of Khongjom War, he said.

DESAM started organising the mega blood donation camps to commemorate and preserve the spirit of forefathers who fought the Britishers in 1891 (March-April).

Battles were fought by the hill and valley people as one against the British in many places such as Mayangkhang in Senapati district and Kheba Ching, Thoubal district, he said.

The courage, spirit and the sense of Nationalism, the forefathers had should not be forgotten and must be remembered to instil the same feelings to the minds and hearts of the students, he said.
