Fresh permission must for road cutting: PWD

In a step to prevent unauthorised cutting of PWD roads by private parties/telecom operators/government organisation without prior approval, the Public Works Department has cancelled all the earlier road cutting permissions (ROW), if any, with immediate effect.
In a notification, PWD additional chief engineer-II Ch Bishwachandra Singh informed that those seeking road cutting permission (ROW) should submit/resubmit their request to the department at least two months in advance in case NH, one month for SH & MDR and two weeks for ODR & IVR.
The ROW shall be granted only after depositing the cost of rehabilitation as decided by the department, the engineer informed while cautioning that heavy penalty as decided by the department will be imposed on any unauthorised excavation which usually results in damaging the pavements and causing traffic accidents, security issues, etc.
