Imphal, June 22 2021:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) has alleged BJP government of doing nothing to reform the faulty policies and system followed by the Congress party during the latter's rule.
In a video message released to the media, MPP vice-president Dr S Ibomcha said that there were no clear service rules for MCS, MPS, MFS examinations conducted by MPSC during the Congress rule.
The service rules were amended from time to time to suit the interest of the then ministers and such faults in the system has led to corruption in every department.
Unfortunately, the BJP government is continuing the same legacy without taking up any initiatives to issue a clear rule, he said while urging the government to look into the matter.
On the other hand, the age of retirement from government service is 59 years as per service rules of the state government.
However, the government always re-engage retired directors and chief engineers for a period of 2 to 6 years under the pretext of having no eligible officer in the line of promotion.
Such practices only breed corruption in the government departments and hurt the morale of those officers in the line of promotion.
There are several officers, who had to retire from their services without getting their rightful promotion.
This practice was introduced by Congress government and the BJP government is walking on the same path, he contended.
Engineers, assistant engineers and section officers in departments like PWD, IFCD, electricity department and water supply among others are made EE in-charge, AE in-charge, etc, without making their post confirmed or regular.
After holding such incharge posts, they are made to retire as AE or SO or engineer, which is a clear sign of denying their rights and benefits, the MPP vice-president said.
He then urged chief minister N Biren to do away with such practice and make his government a true people centric government.
