Imphal, February 22 2018: Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with seven Project Implementing Agencies for the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) in the State in the presence of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh.

The MoU was signed at the Conference Hall of the Minister's New Secretariat Office.

As part of the signing of the MoU, Minister Biswajit released the wall and table calendars of Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission.

Biswajit said that under the scheme, already 1148 Self Help Groups have been created in the State with around 13,335 members.

He also said that the products of the State SHGs are in demand both in the State as well as outside the State.

The SHGs are also earning revenue by selling their products in fairs and other exhibitions, he added.

He continued that the scheme has its main focus on youth and targets to train 10,518 rural youth by March 2019 and'5,370 this year.

He said that according to the scheme guidelines, once the MoU is signed with the PIA, 25 percent of the total fund should be disbursed.

Informing that the scheme targets 70 percent placement of the trainees, he said that the placement could be either in the form of salaried or self-employment.

The Minister also instructed the concerned officials for implementation of the scheme to erect hoardings and sign boards in the rural areas so as to educate the intended beneficiaries of the scheme.

SMD MSRLM Somorjit Salam said that MSRLM earlier signed an MoU with a PIA for providing training on emergency medical technician and blood bank technician.

He said the trainings will be imparted in more than 250 trades and skills.

DDU-GKY is the skills action-arm of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), tasked with imparting skills to rural youth, moving them from poverty to productivity.

It owns and manages the entire lifecycle of the process, from investing into Skilling Projects (at no cost of the trainees or the employers) to identifying internships and placement opportunities, and to tracking career progression over a period of three years from graduation.

The main focus of the DDU-GKY is on the rural youth from poor families in the age group of 18 to 35 years with a relaxation up to 45 years for Persons with Disabilities, transgender and people living with HIV.

The scheme can be availed by MGNREGA worker households with a minimum of 15 days of completed work, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana households, Antyodaya Anna Yojana card holding households, BPL PDS card holding households, NRLM-SHG households and households covered under auto inclusion parameters of Socio-Economic Caste Census, 2011.The calendar release function was also attended by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Principal Secretary MH Khan and other officials of MSRLM.

The MoU signed today with the PIAs were for Computer Network Assistant, CRM Domestic non-Voice, Food and Beverage Service, Hospitality Assistant, Sewing Machine operator, beauty therapy and hair styling, BPO Non-voice, Retail Sales associates, Field Technician-Networking and Storage, Junior Software Developer, BPO Voice, General Duty Assistant and Food and Beverage Service trainee.
