Imphal, July 21 2014:
Joint Student Co-ordination Committee, Manipur today strongly condemned the brutal killing of a Manipuri man by a group of people at Kotla Mubarakpur in New Delhi last night.
In a press conference held at the office of Manipuri Student's Federation, JSCC Convenor Thangjam Premananda strongly condemned the brutal assault and murder of the man.
Yesterday's incident was not the first instance meted out to the people from North East, Premananda said and added that mainland people had shown similar brutality in the past as well.
He also said that such incidents happen repeatedly due to Government's failure to award befitting punishment to the culprits.
He further appealed to send a representative, who is not less than the rank of a Senior SP, from the State to Delhi to gather reports on the incident within 24 hours.
He also urged the State Government not to remain silent but press the Centre to give a buffeting punishment according to the law of the land.
Although, racial discrimination against the North East people living in different parts of mainland India is happening every now and then, the Central Government has failed to take up necessary steps to protect NE people.
