Symphony of cultural dances rocks Chandel

The Cultural and Traditional Dance Fiesta organized at Pallel by 42 Assam Rifles of 26 under HQ IGAR (S) brought much delight to the residents of Chandel and Pallel in particular, stated a press release of PRO IGAR (S) .
The occasion was graced by MLA Korungthang and Commander 26 Sector as presidium members.
The dance competition commenced showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Tengnoupal and Meitei dance forms and it was followed by Tamil Sangam from Moreh, Bamboo Dance from Samtal-Sehlon Region, Anal Akadam Dance from Joupi-Chakpikarong Region, Paldai and Twilelon dances from Sajik Valley, Aimol, Tarao and Maring dances from Chandel and Machi Sub-Division and Pupalam and Kanamjem dances from Khengjoi Region.
Ranjit Adhikari, Principal of Govt Dance College, Imphal; Pukhrambam Dhanajit, Guru in JawaharLal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal and Takhellambam Tiken, Director of Federal Academy of Dance and Culture (FADAC), Imphal were the judges of the dance competition.

After the mesmerizing performances, Moreh Manipuri Dance Group was declared the winner of the competition for their Shimlam Dance.
The second prize was bagged by Charongchin Akadam Vappunna for Anal Akadam dance while the third and fourth prizes were respectively given to Bamboo dance of Samtal-Sehlon region and Thadou Kuki Cultural Dance Group for Pupalam Dance.
Consolation prizes were also given to all other participants.
The prizes were given away by MLA Korungthang, Sunita Dwivedi and Brig Upendra Dwivedi, Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit Adhikari appreciated the dances presented by different cultural troupes and encouraged them to uphold the cultural and traditional values of Chandel District.
MLA Korungthang felicitated the noble efforts of Assam Rifles for providing a platform to showcase the culture and tradition of the tribes in Chandel District and encouraged the dancers to come forward to perform.
