International Mother Language Day observed

Imphal, February 21 2021:
International Mother Language Day which has been observed throughout the world on February 21 to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism, was also celebrated today at the premises of Royal Academy Wangjing.
The programme jointly organised by the Ningol Khut Manipur, Wangjing; Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal district branch, Wangjing, and Khorirol Sandoklup, Wangjing, was attended by Khorirol Sandoklup Wangjing president, Tongbram Babulan; Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal district branch president, Moirangthem Rajendra and Ningol Khut Manipur president, Khundongbam Gunamani as presidium members.
During the programme, Waikhom Mani Girls College, associate professor, Sengoi Sanasam delivered a lecture on 'Manipuri Lol amasung Masi Chaokhatnaba pambei sing' and Meitei Inat Laining Lol Thijinbagi Apunba (MILITA) Wangjing, convenor Soibam Mangijao on 'Manipuri - Wahei asigi maram da Khradang'.
Later, the book 'Nga na Nallaba Angang' by Sanasam Racheshwori and a booklet titled 'Malem gi Imalol gi numit: February 21' were released.
Similarly, as a part of the International Mother Language Day observance, a rally was organised by Kokborok and other Minorities Languages Department under the ICAT, Education Department, Government of Tripura at Rabindra Satabarsiki Bhavan in Agartala today.
The programme was attended by Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Dev; Minister NC Debbarma; Education Minister, Ratan Lal Nath and Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner, Mohammad Jobayet Husen.
