Capacity development program on pulses improvement held

Imphal, January 21 2025:
A one-day "Capacity Development and Input Distribution Program on Pulses Improvement in the Manipur Region" was conducted today under the NEH Program of AICRP on Kharif Pulses at CAU, Imphal Centre.
The program was held in collaboration with UPR-Kanpur, UP and aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of farmers in the region.
Dr Manoranjan Biswal, Jr Plant Breeder and Scientist in-charge, along with Dr Somanath Nayak, Junior Agronomist, AICRP on Kharif pulses spearheaded the event.
Fifteen farmers participated in the event.
All Heads of Departments from the College, 35 MSc and PhD students and 9 faculty members from the GPB Department also attended the event.
Speaking as the resource person, Dr MC Kharkwal, former Principal Scientist, president of the Indian Society of Genetics and Plant Breeding and an IAEA expert, delivered an insightful lecture on pulses improvement, focusing on biotic and abiotic stresses, mutation breeding, and sustainable farming practices.
During the event battery-operated sprayers and certificates were distributed to the participating farmers.
Following this, an interactive session was held where local challenges in pulse cultivation were discussed and practical solutions were provided.
