Imphal, June 20 2019: The five days Waree Leeba festival cum workshop on Ramayana Arnya and Kiskindhya Kanda organised by All Manipur Waree Leeba Association and Research Centre Khurai Soibam Leikai Imphal under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, began at the auditorium of the association in Khurai Soibam Leikai Imphal today.

Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) Imphal Director L Upendro Sharma graced the function as the chief guest while All Manipur Waree Leeba Association president Ch Kondum Singh, Theatre Centre Manipur president Padmashree Naba Warepa and social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram also attended.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Dr L Upendro stated that organising such festival is a good initiative for the people.

He maintained that the practice of Waree Taba in each locality /Leikai has decreased immensely and as such the practice of elderly people resting and enjoy the art of storytelling has declined immensely.

He urged all to take part in the festival and continue organising such festival in the future as well.
