Moreh, May 20 2021:
At a time when the number of Covid infections is rising rapidly, certain shops and hotels in Moreh Keithel are violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued to control the spread of COVID-19, thereby posing more threat to public health.
It may be mentioned that the District Magistrate, Tengnoupal has on May 5 last issued an office memorandum directing shops and hotels in Moreh Keithel to open on a rotational basis as a measure to arrest Coronavirus spread.
However, certain shops and hotels continue to open on their off days too.
As per a report received from Moreh Hospital, there are 19 Covid positive cases at Tengnoupal, including 4 from Moreh till Wednesday.
To contain the spread of coronavirus in the district, the Moreh police have been checking violators of the SOPs for COVID-19 laid down by the Government from time to time.
As prevention of the further spread of Coronavirus requires collective efforts, it is high time for the public to obey the standard operating procedures diligently.
It is worth noting here that the Manipur police has collected over Rs 2 crore as a fine from the violators of SOPs.
