Imphal, March 20 2012:
After 16 Members of the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council have filed a no confidence motion against Chairman SH Seipu, three Members have been abducted by some armed persons.
Sources informed that the armed abductors might be cadres of a party which has signed the SoO pact.
The rebel Members who filed the no confidence motion against Chairman Seipu were led by Vice Chairman Haokholal Hangsing.
Following threats from certain quarters in connection with the no confidence motion, Haokholal appealed to the DGP to provide security escorts.
Accordingly, Haokholal came to Imphal yesterday afternoon to take security escorts.
However Haokholal was not given security escorts.
Yet, he waited for security escorts at the house of Thangkham Misao who is also Sadar Hills ADC Member in addition to being president of the District Congress Committee.
There the two of them waited for security escorts together with Seilun Khongsai, another Member of the ADC.
At about 10 pm, some armed persons came there together with three escort parties in a Pajero jeep having VIP flag-post and one Scorpio jeep.
The armed persons then took away Haokholal Hangsing, Thangkham Misao and Seilun Khongsai.
At the time of the abduction, the three ADC Members were subjected to severe thrashing.
Moments after they were taken away, family members and local people reported the incident to police.
According to some people who witnessed the abduction, the Pajero jeep belonged to a political leader from Kangpokpi AC while the Scorpio jeep belonged to another political leader of Sadar Hills ADC.
They further asserted that the armed persons other than security escorts who came with them were cadres of KNF.
However, it could not confirmed yet whether the armed men were really cadres of a SoO group or not.
On the other hand, information received from police sources said that five persons who could have known the whereabouts of the abducted Members have been pulled up.
The five persons include suspected activists of the KNF.
However, it has not yet been confirmed nor case registered against them so far.
Another reliable source informed that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and Home Minister Gaikhangam have summoned an important political leader of Kangpokpi AC after Assembly session today and instructed to secure the immediate release of the three abducted ADC Members.
