After four months, state records first Covid death

Imphal, July 17 2022:
Exactly after four months, the state recorded the first Covid 19 death case of the fourth wave as government bulletins reported one death case and 70 new positive cases on Sunday from eight districts out of 584 samples tested in the last 24 hours registering 11.99 per cent positivity rate.
The last time the state reported Covid-19 death was on March 17 when two patients succumbed to the infectious disease.
Since then, no death case had been reported until Sunday.
The 70 fresh cases (37 male & 32 female) are residents of Imphal West (29), Imphal East (27), Thoubal (4), Churachandpur (3), Ukhrul (3), Ka kching (2), Senapati (l) and Kamjong (1) districts.Sunday also reported 27 recoveries from home isolation (2), Shija Hospital (3) and RIMS (2) .
The lone victim was a 75 -year old unvaccinated man, who had co-mor bid conditions.
He passed away on Friday but officially reported only on Sunday.
With addition to the latest victim, the number of Covid-related deaths has reached 2121 .
Meanwhile, the active cases rose to 492, out of which 364 (73.98 per cent) are in home isolation.
Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2121 lives including seven CAPF personnel and infected 1,37,943 individuals including 5,014 CAPF personnel.
The virus has claimed the lives of 194 vaccinated persons of which 61 had received the second dose.
There are two vacant beds available in JNIMS and 22 in RIMS.
So far, the state has recorded 98 positive cases and one death since the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 673 new positive cases and one death case.
The cumulative positivity rate for the current month dipped to 12.13 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 117 D -type and 14 B - type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 3888 vaccine doses administered on Saturday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 16,03,129, out of which 12,72,428 had received the second dose and 1,35,253 provided the precautionary dose.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (49087), Imphal East (30649), Thoubal (10196), Churachandpur (11072), Kangpokpi (3145), Tamen-glong (3479), Bishnupur (9867), Senapati (2503), Ukhrul (3294), Kakching (6920), Chandel (2743), Noney (1166), Tengnoupal (1204), Jiribam (1113), Kamjong (1040) and Pherzawl (465) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (705), Imphal East (51l), Thoubal (189), Churachandpur (168), Kangpokpi (67), Tamenglong (17), Bishnupur (205), Senapati (12), Ukhrul (51), Kakching (122), Chandel (42), Noney (5) , Tengnoupal (15), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,455 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 31,082 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,22,152 tests per million population against the national average of 6,17,662 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent and the recovery rate came down to 98.11 per cent.
The cumulative positivity rate stands at 8.51 per cent.
