Imphal, July 17 2014:
After a gap of more than two years, the formal talk between the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) and the Government of India (GoI) resumed on July 16, 2014 in New Delhi, according to a statement issued by MIP, NSCN/GPRN.
The statement informed that Ajit Lal, who is representing the Government of India in the formal talk, has made it clear that even if there are difficulties involved, he is hopeful to bridge the gap and pursue the matter for an early solution.
Th.Muivah, general secretary of NSCN (IM), who is representing the militant outfit, mentioned that the basis has already been laid and both should go forward, the statement said, adding that both sides are positive and agreed to embark on the peace process with renewed and earnest commitment.
It may be noted here that NSCN(IM) entered into truce with the Government of India in 1997 and since then more than 80 rounds of talks were held without any concrete outcome.
