Interaction programme on 'Entrepreneurship and Swadeshi Economy' conducted

Imphal, February 17 2025:
Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University (MU), in collaboration with Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan (SBA), Manipur Prant, organised a one-day interaction programme on 'Entrepreneurship and Swadeshi Economy' at MIMS Auditorium Hall today.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Satish Kumar, national joint organising secretary, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, highlighted the principles of entrepreneurship and motivated students to think from the perspectives of an entrepreneur, and attainment of quality of life.
Elaborating on the difference between job seeker & job provider, he pointed out that 'quality of life' comes through entrepreneurship.
Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, MU, stressed that exposure to new ideas lead to out-of-the-box thinking.
Sharing his insights on entrepreneurship and swadeshi economy in the context of Manipur, he pointed out that some of the essential necessities of entrepreneurship in the State include the right attitude towards available natural resources, skills, history, and cultures of different communities.
The VC also urged the students to instil thoughts of entrepreneurship, pursue realistic assessment of the place, harness original ideas and ideas inherited from ancestors, which can be marketed within and outside the State.
Sharing the success story of his start-up, Roshni Kumar Yambem, co-convener, SBA, Manipur Prant, said, "Startup is not a billion-dollar company, but it is about anyone who is trying to generate income by themselves".
Highlighting the principle of self-reliance under Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan, he encouraged students to visit the website and explore its facilities.
Prof Prabhakar Laishram, Director, MIMS, highlighted the importance of having a theoretical knowledge of management and company laws for successful operations of business.
Prof W Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, MU and coordinator, SBA, Manipur Prant, hosted the interactive programme, bringing a whole new approach to entrepreneurship among the students community.
Dr S Keshorjit Singh, faculty, MIMS and coordinator, SBA, Bishnupur District, gave the welcome address while Prof Jibon Kumar Sharma proposed the vote of thanks.
