Film is mirror of society: Nemcha Kipgen

Film is a medium that reflects the social evils and good and it is regarded as the mirror of the society through which the public can make amend in their nature, bahaviour and outlook, said Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen.
Attending as chief guest of the blessing ceremony of Nabakumar Film Production's first Manipuri feature film Tantha' on Tuesday, Nemcha emphasised on the role played by film in shaping the society.
She hailed Manipuri cinema for its high standard and called upon production houses to pay more attention in bringing out quality materials to develop the film industry further.
She also spoke on the role of media in the society while calling media and film as companions.
Award winning senior journalist Sonia Sorensangbam, who attended the event as guest of honour, expressed dissatisfaction over the inordinate delay by the government to implement Manipur Film Policy, which was already approved by the state cabinet.
She stressed the need for a committed effort on the part of the government and to promote quality products from the Manipuri film industry for a better future.
Padmashri awardee Wareppa Naba, who presided over the function, also expressed dissatisfaction over the non-implementation of Manipuri Film Policy and drew attention of the government to look into the matter while Film Forum Manipur general secretary Ngangbam Ghanashyam urged film producers to pay focus on producing quality films.
L Hemanta is 'producing the film, which will be directed by Thoiba on the story of Ashakiran.
Danny, Sadananda, Abenao and Gepeuna are in the lead roles.
