First ever Pico Hydel Power Plant inaugurated in Chepu Yaolen

The first ever 5 Kilowatt Pico Hydel Power Plant to be introduced in Manipur which will supply power only for Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs has been inaugurated at Chepu Yaolen village in Ukhrul District on Friday.
The newly constructed power plant was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul, Hrisheekesh Modak and dedicated to the villagers.
This plant has the capacity to supply power to around 55 households with three LED bulbs each and 15 street lights.
The power plant was constructed by Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) and Ukhrul District Community Resource Management Society (UDCRMS) under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
MANIREDA Director L Manglem Singh and NERORM/IFAD, Ukhrul Project Manager Tychicus Vashum attended the function as guests of honour.
Ukhrul DC Hrisheekesh Modak on the occasion appealed to the people to render support and cooperation in all developmental projects.
He said the district administration was ready to support the people both financially and morally.
Meanwhile, MANIREDA Director Manglem said MANIREDA has taken up three projects in Ukhrul district and over 200 projects have been taken up across the State.
The 90 percent of these projects have been completed successfully, he said.
Meanwhile, one Piggery Fattening Unit set up by NEC, DoNER and International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) at Chepu was also inaugurated in the programme.
