Imphal, August 16 2021: As in different part of the country, district administrations and district level institutions celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India on Sunday across the state.

In Thoubal district, the 75th Independence Day was celebrated at Mini Secretariat Complex, Thoubal with minimum participation in view of the ongoing Covid-19 situation.

Deputy Commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute of a police contingent led by Parade Commander Ashangbam Khelendra Singh, who is deputy SP (Ops), Thoubal.

While addressing the gathering as the.

chief guest, Rangnamei paid homage to the nation builders who contributed to the country's independence and recounted the sacrifices and contribution of the patriots and other unsung heroes.

Regarding the Covid-19 situation in the district, the DC expressed his gratitude to all the health and frontline workers for their selfless service to the people and to all Locality Covid Committee members, MLAs, Panchayats and all concerned who have extended their support and cooperation to fight against Covid pandemic.

While praising Mirabai Chanu on her achievement at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics, he also highlighted the various achievements of the country in different fields during seventy five years of independent India.

He also stressed that as a responsible citizen one should know one's duty and strive to promote peaceful coexistence and prosperity.

As part of the function, the Chief Guesst also handed over Certificate of Appreciation to about 140 people from different departments for their dedication and commitment in the fight against Covid pandemic.

PHERZAWL: Even as the livelihood of many families has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has not abandoned its people during these difficult times, said Pherzawl deputy commissioner Mannuamching in her speech during the 75th Independence Day celebration at Pherzawl district headquarters on Sunday.

The DC thanked the medical staffers, VAs and task forces of the district for their efforts to contain spread of Covid-19 in their respective villages.

She said that free rice is given to all ration card holders at the rate of Rs 5 per kg and the same will continue till November this year along with informing that continuation of MGNREGA programmes and launch of PM-KISAN scheme have been benefitting different sections of the society.

While stating that assistance for treatment is being provided through CMHT and PMJAY schemes, she also said announced that PSA plant at Parbung CHC will be installed soon.

Reiterating that Covid-19 vaccine is being provided to all eligible citizens by the government, Mannuamching urged all to come forward and take the vaccine on their turn without any apprehension or hesitancy and reminded that vaccination is the only means to get the people protected from the Covid-19 virus.

"Let's protect our forests and maintain cleanliness and hygienic environment in our villages, and protect government buildings and other public properties" she exhorted the people and urged all to promote peace and development of the country and state by living in harmony with neighbours and striving to be self-reliant.

She also highlighted various developmental works taken up in the district such as -- blacktopping of NH-102, NH-150 Tipaimukh road, rural roads development under PMGSY, NABARDs project of Sipuikon-Tipaimukh road, improvement of Zolienso bailey bridge and import ant buildings at the district headquarters.

In all, 90 officials and staff of the district administration were presented Appreciation Certificate in recognition of their extraordinary services and exemplary dedication to their respective duty on the occasion.

Officials and staff of various departments took part in the programme.

CHANDEL: As in all parts of the country, the district administration celebrated the 75th independence Day at DC complex on Sunday with the event kicked off with inspection of the guard of honour and hosting of the Tri- colour along with the national anthem by deputy commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar.

Superintendent of Police L Deben Singh, 8 MR CO Somendro Singh and 18 Assam Rifles.

CO Ajit Kshetri, all DLOs and officials of the district were also present at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated officials and public of the district, on Chandel becoming the number one district amongst all the Aspirational Districts in the Country.

He said that it was only possible because each and every one working for the development of the district had given their best in their own capacities.

Speaking about development in the health sector, the deputy commissioner said that the Labor Room in the district hospital has been LaQshya certified and it will be of great benefits for the people of Chandel.

He further said that under the Aspirational district programme, separate male and female wards are being built at Komlathabi primary health centre and a rriodern public health sub centre and staff's quarter are also being constructed at Anal khullen to replace old wooden structure of the centre.

Rajkumar also mentioned the recently inaugurated Oxygen generation plant at district hospital and also said that another plant of half the present capacity will also be installed very soon.

Speaking about the progress on educational front, he said that being an Aspirational district, under founding of the RC foundation for converting class rooms into Smart class rooms, AR projectors, which are highly advanced and IT enabled projectors, had been distributed not only to government but also to private schools.

He also said that independent water pumps were also distributed to all the schools to solve the water problems and mentioned that under department of Biotechnology, government of India in collaboration with IBSD, Imphal a science museum has been established at Maha Union higher secondary school.

The DC opined that it will help in increasing the scientific temper amongst the student community of the district.

Enumerating about the other development initiatives, he referred to the proposed Children Amusement park near the district headquarters and that work isin progress for optical fibre connection for easy mobile and internet connectivity, tap water to every houusehold in the district, etc.

While concluding his speech, the deputy commissioner said that some of the developmental projects had already been completed and few are in progress and asked the people of the district to give full cooperation and support in successfully implementing these projects.

UKHRUL: Ukhrul district administration celebrated the 75th year of Independence Day with DC Joseph Pauline Kamson as the chief guest at Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul.

Speaking on the occasion in the presence of DLOs and their employees, CSO leaders and public, the chief guest paid tributes to the great freedom fighters of the nation.

"Today, the legacy of their strength have been carried forward and India is on its way to becoming a super power.

Rate of literacy and income has increased substantially.

Moreover, it is playing a powerful role in trade and commerce," he said pointed out that the state government has also taken up various flagship programmes for the welfare of the society.

Additional SP (Ops) Ringthing Hongchui was the commander of the Independence Day march past parade that consisted of contingent of Manipur Police, 6th battalion Manipur Rifles and ex-Servicemen.

In all, 87 awards/certificates to employees of various departments were handed out for their relentless services.

Office of the ZEO won the best gate display out of nine departmental constructions while a patriotic song was presented by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ukhrul.

Red blankets were also gifted to select village headmen during the function.

BISHNUPUR: District administration celebrated India's 75th Independence Day at New Mini Secretariat Complex here with DC Krishna Kumar unfurling the national flag.

Due to COVID pandemie, only Bishnupur Civil Police and VDF Band Party participated in the parade commanded by Sub Inspector Thokchom Chingthangkhomba Singh.

Commendations and appreciation certificates were given to several Government Employees, Covid frontline Workers, Task Forces and Social Workers for rendering outstanding services in the last one year.

Notably, two girl students who secured highest marks in BOSEM and three girl students in COHSEM Exams 2020-21 from the district were also felicitated on the occasion.

Three Pradhans achieving the highest Child Sex Ratio were also presented with appreciation certificates.

Addressing the gathering, Krishna Kumar remarked the day as not only a special one but also an emotional moment for all Indians as the whole nation celebrates with pride and honour.

Highlighting achievements of several line departments in the district, the Deputy Commissioner conveyed his sincere note of gratitude to COVID frontline warriors who have done a tremendous job since the onset of Covid pandemic.

The DC further stated that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Bishnupur tops the state in terms of vaccination per team average achievement.

It is an indication that the district is moving in the right direction and pace with the right spirit, he continued.

He also stated that the District Hospital has been selected for Kayakalp Award 2020-21 which is a great achievement for the district.

He also informed that the district is among the top performing districts of the country with regard to observance of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The DC also confided plans for modernisation of schools with career guidance-centric curriculum system and stressed the need for the youth to channelise their energy and potential in the right direction to make them as assets for the district and nation.

For the welfare of farmers, adopting modern technology has become inevitable, he stated and urged the public to get vaccinated as vaccination is the only way to save lives from the pandemic.

He also appealed to DLOs and officials to reach out to people around them and motivate them for vaccination.

Among others, SP Sapam Hopson, ADM Bobby Sharma, SDO Mamoni Doley, DLOs, CSO leaders and district level officials also took part in the celebration.

Due to the Covid pandemic, all SDOs and Gram Panchayats in the district celebrated the Independence Day in a low key affairs at their respective offices.
