Imphal, April 16 2020:
Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council has claimed that there is no provision in the lockdown extension that will address the grievances of migrants workers, daily wage earners and paramedical staff of private hospitals, who have been bearing the brunt of Nationwide lockdown since April 24 last.
A press release issued by CPI, MSC also said that non-mentioning of providing essential commodities to the masses in the lockdown guidelines arranged by the Central Government is very unfortunate.
If the lockdown is to be extended, special measures or projects to be taken up in the district and State level should be arranged first, the party said and opined that delivering foods and rations to the working-class people at their doorsteps and extending monetary help would be helpful in extending the lockdown effectively.
It would be wise to allocate more money on the health sector as such threat (COVID-19 pandemic) could arise anytime in future, CPI advised.
