Imphal, November 15 2015:
The villagers of Pheyeng have been reeling under numerous problems for last many years.
However, what have been immediately visible as of now are the deplorable conditions of village roads and lanes.
There has been not much improvement in the overall infrastructure related to connectivity to Phayeng, a village about 14 km drive from Imphal City.
Phayeng is located in Sekmai Assembly Constituency of Imphal West district.
According to 2011 census, the village has a total 660 families with a population of 2728 .

Though Phayeng has a good literacy rate which stands at 75.17%, there is still a lot that needs to be done when it comes to the overall developmental aspects.
The village has an Upper Primary, one Primary and just one High School run by the State Government.
Villagers feel that the High School so far does not have a regular headmaster and insist that the High School should have a regular headmaster to give more teeth to the initiatives for overall educational development.
"Though villagers could opt to send their children to private educations institutes already established in the village, there is a still a need to reinforce existent infrastructure," said a concerned villagers.
Phayeng village Chief Ningthoujam Toyai Chakpa informed Hueiyen Lanpao that though the villagers have received certain benefits of government initiated developmental programmes, there were areas which need to be looked into.
"The State Government has projects to develop roads and bridges.
Despite the existence of such projects, no authority has fully implemented these projects so as to develop better connectivity and improve transportation bottlenecks", said Toyai.
One of the primary occupations of the villagers include domestic rearing of poultry livestock such as pigs, chickens, ducks and cattle.
Almost every household has its won space allocated for the rearing of animals.
However, the villagers have complained that so far, they have got adequate attention of the authority on establishing a veterinary in the village jurisdiction area.
The villagers take their livestock to nearby towns and villages in case of emergencies.
However, the village authority and the youth are making efforts to further improve the overall conditions of Phayeng.
Towards this end, the villagers have also formed an organisation called "Chakpa Phayeng Semgat Lup" constituted by members 10 bodies representing the village elders, men, women and youth.
The Lup also not only coordinates developmental projects but also acts as the authority that oversees any set agenda of improving the lives of the village.
