Imphal, May 15, 2013:
The manner in which the State Government has come out with the sectoral allocation of the plan amount for the fiscal year 2013-14 has clearly indicated that the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led Congress government in the State is against budding entrepreneurs and educated youths of the State, BJP, Manipur Pradesh has charged.
Addressing media persons at its party office here today, Y Nilamani, spokesperson of BJP, Manipur Pradesh, pointed out that there are around 6.75 lakh educated unemployed youths registered in different Employment Exchanges in Manipur today.
Apart from this, there are also a number of self employed individuals who have not registered their names in any of the Employment Exchange.
However, in spite such a huge number of individuals, who are unemployed and looking for ways and means to make themselves self employed by getting into some form of small scale industries, the State Government has allocated just Rs 4 crores to the Industry Department for the fiscal year, 2013-14.It is this Department which is supposed to provide assistance to people in trying to setting up small industries.
But with such a meager amount of fund allocated, it is clear that there is no future for budding entrepreneurs in the State, Nilamani said.
He further pointed out that the Agriculture Department, which is considered to be one of the most important departments not only for increasing the agricultural products of the State but also as the main source of livelihood of the people, has been allocated just Rs 7.62 crores for the current fiscal year.
Such a meager amount of fund has been allocated even though the State Government has been kept assuring to bring about a major change in the agriculture sector.
On the hand, Nilamani went on to point out, with complete disregard to the efforts being made by the Education Minister to bring about a big change in the Education sector and ensuring quality education, the fund allocated for the Education Department by the State Government for the financial year, 2013-14 is only Rs 6.18 crore.
"As such, unequal sectoral allocation this time clearly indicates that the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led Congress Government is totally against the interest of the people" he alleged.
Interestingly, out of the total Plan size of Rs 3650 crore provided by the Planning Commission for the current financial year, 2013-2014, Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD), which, incidentally is under the charge of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, has been allocated Rs 32.32 crore, Nilamani further pointed.
