Imphal, March 14 2018: A joint team of Imphal East district police commando and personnel of 6 Assam Rifles arrested two cadres of KCP Peoples War Group and seized two 9 mm pistols and a large number banned cough syrup and opium, yesterday evening, from Kontha Ahallup, under Heingang PS.

Moreover the two are actively involved in threatening and boycotting Catholic schools in Imphal and had negotiated for the admission of 10 students per Catholic school in Imphal.

According to a reliable source, the joint team as a part of the security and preventive measures taken up in connection with the planned visit of the Prime Minister to the State, launched cordon and search operation at Kontha Ahallup, under Heingang PS, at around 6 pm yesterday.

During the search operation, the team arrested two cadres of KCP Peoples War Group, identified as W Ramananda alias Rousow (45) s/o (L) W Bira of Kontha Ahallup Makha Leikai and Sanabam Gunajit Mangang (40) s/o Dhabajit Mangang of Uripok Kabrabam Leikai.

They revealed that they are working under the command of one German alias Nelson of KCP (PWG).

The police team also recovered one 9 mm pistol from the possession of W Ramananda and a box containing 89 bottles of Bestorex cough syrup and 3 packets of opium (weighing around 1.5 kilogram) concealed in his bed room.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested individuals revealed that they are actively involved in threatening and boycotting Catholic schools in Imphal and had negotiated for the admission of 10 students per Catholic school in Imphal.

They further revealed that the ban on the Catholic schools was imposed in order to extort money and to get some students admitted in the school.

Further, from the disclosure of Sanabam Gunajit, the police team also recovered one 9 mm pistol with four live bullet rounds and two mobile phones (along with sim cards) and three packets of explosive material, which were kept concealed at Langdum Lamkhai, by their associate Nelson.

Both of them were arrested from the spot after observing necessary formalities and handed over to the Heingang PS for further investigation and for taking up necessary legal action against them.
