ATSUM thanks RIMS authority for rectifying reservation quota

The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has expressed sincere thanks to RIMS Imphal authority for rectifying reservation quota pertaining to recruitment to Group 'C' and 'D' posts in Central institutions following the sincere appeal of the union.
Seiboi Haokip, general secretary, ATSUM said that it had earlier appealed the RIMS authority to rectify the reservation quota in Group 'C' and 'D' posts as the notification for recruitment of LDC in the institute was in complete violation of reservation policy and to halt any recruitment till rectification was made.
He continued that the authority of RIMS, Imphal has now rectified the reservation quota in appointment in Group C and erstwhile Group D posts in Central Government Institutions functioning in the State by writing to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI for the same on August 22.The union Secretary, while conveying heartfelt gratitude to the RIMS authority, also said that ATSUM particularly would like to thank RIMS Director, Prof A Santa and Deputy Director, Kaikhokam Doungel for their maturity, intellectuality and like-mindedness in rectifying the reservation quota.
He also said that according to Department of Personnel and Training's Chapter 2 of brochure on reservation (Except in Delhi) for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in case of direct recruitment to Group C and Group D posts normally attracting candidates from a locality or a region is generally fixed on the basis of proportion of their population in the respective States/UTs.
He further said that Reservation for Other Backward Classes in such cases is fixed keeping in view the proportion of their population in the respective States/UTs, being subject to a limit of 27% and total reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs not exceeding 50%.As such, the reservation quantum fixed for SC, ST and OBC in the case of Manipur is specified as 3%, 34% and 13% respectively.
ATSUM has been consistently apprising the State Government to strictly adhere to and implement the reservation policy of DoPT effectively and conduct special recruitment for Scheduled Tribes for filling up of back log vacancies in all State departments and Central Institutions of Manipur, he mentioned.
