Imphal, February 13 2025:
Opposing the recent resignation of N Biren Singh from the Chief Minister's office, the Laipham Khunou Apunba Meira (Paibi) Lup staged a sit-in protest today at Social Development Club ground, Laipham Khunou Makha Leikai.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Laishram Nanaobi reasoned that the resignation is ill-timed as the conflict is still without any solution.
She urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reinstate N Biren Singh as the Chief Minister of Manipur.
Referring to the political stalemate in Manipur concerning the delay in choosing N Biren Singh's successor, she maintained that such a situation will add to the suffering of the people.
Instead, N Biren Singh should be reinstated and both the Opposition and ruling party should come together to bring peace in Manipur, she said.
Meanwhile, Elangbam Sobita Leima, secretary, Laipham Khunou Mitong Lampak Nupi Chaokhat Lup asserted that N Biren Singh should not resign until the protracted conflict is resolved.
In the midst of the Manipur crisis where thousands of people have been uprooted from their homes and hundreds more have lost their lives, the Opposition and ruling party should unite to work out a solution instead of engaging in a political game in pursuit of the Chief Minister's chair, she maintained The protestors displayed placards with messages such as "We oppose Cm's resignation", "We oppose arrest of village volunteers", "Stop divide and rule policy in Manipur", among others.
