CADA continue with sit-in protests

Imphal, January 13 2021:
Expressing the need for a retrial at a higher Court following the recent acquittal of former ADC Chairman, Lhukhosei Zou, the Nupi Khunnai Chaokhat Kanglup, Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) Unit jointly organised a sit in protest at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal in Imphal East district, today.
Speaking to media persons, one of the protesters Kangabam Sarika stated that there is a high possibility of serious lapses during the initial stage of investigation which has led to strong suspicion that the case might have been tampered.
She further appealed to the State Government to take the case to a higher Court and award befitting punishment to those involved in the drug case.
Another sit in protest was held today at Phaknung in Imphal East district by volunteers of Phaknung Social Youth Club, Phaknung Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and CADA unit.
Slogans including 'do not demean war on drugs', 'award befitting punishments to drug smugglers' etc were raised at the end of the protest.
Voicing the same demands, memorandums were also submitted by representatives of All Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj, Thoubal Ima, AMKIL, Tammi Chingmi, THANIL, Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Semgat Sagatpa Lup, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Apunba Nupi Lup, (ANUL) Bishnupur, Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup (NIMPAL), Ireipak Enaat Chanura Loinasillon (ECHAL) and Meira Paibi, led by Nupi Samaj president Th Ramani to Lorho S Pfoze, MP Outer Manipur; Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, Minister CAF&PD, Law and Legislative Affairs, Labour and Employment; Letpao Haokip, Minister YAS and Water Resources; Thokchom Radheshyam, MLA Heirok AC; and Karam Shyam, MLA Langthabal AC .
