Discovery of skeletal remains flayed

Imphal, January 13 2015: Taking serious note of the discovery of skeletal remains during an excavation at the compound, formerly complex under Tombisana High School on December 25 last year, Committee on Mass Grave at Tombisana High School along with Angtha Apunba Meira Paibi Nupi Khunai staged a sit-in-protest at Yairipok Angtha Khongnangkhong, Thoubal district on Tuesday.

Speaking to newspersons on sidelines of the protest demonstration, Phunindro Konsam, convener of Committee on Mass Grave at Tombisana High School said that the discovery of skeletal and human skulls from the former compound of the school came as a shocker to the public.

He suspected that the skeletal remains could be of those who disappeared after they were picked up by security forces in the name of counter insurgency under the cover of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (FASPA), 1958 .

He then demanded the concerned authority to form a committee headed by a Judge along with experts instead of constituting a judicial inquiry to find out facts behind the discovery of skeletal remains and human skulls.

Several placards which read 'Every Bone Tells a Story', 'Down with Extra-Judicial Execution', 'To whom the skeletal remains belong' etc were displayed at the protest demonstration.
