Imphal, January 13 2013 :
The Naga rebel group, NSCN-IM is trying to destroy the territorial integrity of Manipur at the whims and instigation of Government of India. So, it is high time, for the people of the State to launch stir against the Indian regime, exclaimed C Upendra, retired Session Court Judge.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the 3rd Foundation Day function of People's Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) at the hall of Manipur Dramatic Union at Yaiskul Police lane here today, C Upendra categorically observed that the attitude of Indian Government towards the State of Manipur indicates open rejection to cover the State of Manipur in the administrative set up of the country.
Since the Central Government fails to recognize Manipur at par with other States, it is time for the people of Manipur to teach the India Government a good lesson and tell them directly that "we are against such attitude" .
Describing UNC as the mouthpiece of NSCN (IM), the retired Session Court judge maintained that the statement of UNC over Alternative Arrangement, in the real sense of the term means that Manipur government should be satisfied with the administration of the valley areas and if the demand for Alternative Arrangement is given away, Manipur would cease to remain as a State.
He went on to chastise that Muivah, General Secretary of NSCN-IM, who was born and brought up in Manipur should realize that he (Muivah) has nothing to gain by disintegrating Manipur.
Manipur is a State inhabited by different ethnic groups peacefully, he asserted.
He further stated that Nagas who have always been claiming that they have their own unique history, would never be able to bring out any portion of their history which is unique and not related to the history of the Meeteis.
He called upon the Nagas to examine carefully as to who are actually behind looting the developmental funds meant for the hill areas, since they always claim that the State Government is not paying interest towards developmental works in the hills, and added that there has never been a time in the history of Manipur where the Minister of Tribal Development was not a tribal.
On the issue of existence of designated camps of NSCN (IM) in Manipur, C Upendra expressed surprise that the State Government has not been able to identify the camps and destroy them even after the then MP of Manipur, Mani Charenamei had stated that there is designated camps of the Naga rebel group in Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Chandel district.
"It is high time that the State Government finds out the designated camps of NSCN-IM and destroyed them.
It would be very hard for the State Government to rule if it doesn't have the caliber to come out at its best", he said, and added that the case of the brutal killing of SDO Kishan and his two sub-ordinate staffs; the scuffle of NSCN-IM with Assam Rifles at Sirui and the recent case of molestation and assault of film actress Momoco by its cadre Livingstone are clear examples that the Manipur has become a stronghold of NSCN-IM.
Presided over by Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, President of PANDM, the function was also attended by H Ibotombi khuman, Advisor of IPSA and Y Lairikleima, President of KANGLAMEI as Guests of Honour.
